Studies show that children who are engaged in physical activity at a young age are more likely to continue those habits into adulthood, leading to a healthier and more active life. But inspiration is not easy.
Our program connects kids with Olympians, who have reached the pinnacle of athletic achievement and competed on the world’s stage. These Olympians create content talking directly to kids participating in our programs, forming personal connections. They become role models who show that dedication and hard work leads to incredible outcomes.
In addition to one-on-one interactions with Olympians, we partner with schools to help them implement programs that promote daily physical activity. Our flagship program is a 40 day walk on campus. Moving forward, we are engaging teachers, coaches and other “team leaders” to run and track exercise based activities. Schools play a crucial role in ensuring that children stay active and motivated, and our curriculum is built to support them in making exercise a regular part of school life.
We also involve the children’s families and communities by encouraging “buddies”—adults who model active lifestyles by “donating their activity” to students. These buddies may also form teams to motivate each other to exercise more, donate more points to the kids, and therein maximizing the energy around activity. By involving the entire community, we amplify the impact and help children create strong, positive habits that will serve them throughout their lives.
If there is a kid in your life, grades 2-8, please consider contacting their school and advocating that they adopt the World Fit program.
